Mellissa Flowerdew-Clarke
About Me
I am Mellissa Flowerdew-Clarke. I’m a playwright, author, poet and editor, with a penchant for the macabre and a fascination with sexual psychology. I’m currently in my first year of studying a PhD in Creative Writing. The overarching theme of my work is “Libertinism: a literary exploration of paraphilia, censorship and tolerance.” If you wish to divulge your darkest sexual perversions, I’d be a willing audience. The work I love to write is raw and confrontational, interlaced with a hint of dark humour. As a writer, I aim to worm my way into your brain and make you rethink your current behaviours. If that fails, I’ll make you laugh instead. Versatility is key to me, though. I have also written, believe it or not, family-friendly musicals, comedic radio plays and non-fiction articles on subjects ranging from effective communication, through to retailing in Russia. As well as writing creatively, I also work as a freelance copywriter, specialising in online communication and brand awareness. Please have a look through my work and let me know your thoughts. Don’t be scared to be honest; I have a thick skin.
